Deco study Table and stools by isolatedreality
Deco study Table and stools
Hand forged table and stools.  Attempted to take the most basic of shapes I saw in art deco and apply them to furniture.  Three legged furniture is a bit difficult and forging a piece of steel into a triangle and then mounting them was a challenge in its own.

Aspen Tree Mirror by isolatedreality
Aspen Tree Mirror
Standing at 91" tall with a base of 25"x32" and some sweat, blood of a news anchor and some tears, this full body mirror has a ‪forged life size ‪‎aspen‬ tree complete with ‪‎brass, bronze, ‎copper and ‪steel leaves. The mirror its self has a ‪‎patina copper back and a very simple ‪‎nouveau‬ frame.

I grew up in my dads blacksmith studio and have been forging since I was 8. After high school I attended an art school and majored in media arts. "Media" being mostly advertising and entertainment media. Doing well in the school I came back home and was made partner in the family blacksmithing business. My full time job is working for the family business making the projects that come through. They are mostly for high end homes in the ski areas of Colorado like railings, chandeliers, Doors for fireplaces, door hardware, the list goes on. At the studio we focus mostly on hand forged items. It is not a welding shop where we order pieces and slap them together, yet we make everything and most of the time use traditional techniques like riveting, collars, forge welds, etc. I do use modern tools like welders and grinders but dont rely on them much. I am also in charge of the advertising side of the business and photography.

Things shown here are the fun, smaller projects that I sell on the side. Using boards like Deviant Art Im hoping to meet other artists and start getting myself out there.

Feel free to ask any questions about how I do what I do. More than happy to talk about it. Thanks again if you are still reading lol

I am so glad i found your page!!

I want to learn blacksmithing but it is really obscenely difficult to find somewhere to start learning as I have little to no access (I live in Sydney, Australia) to good places to learn.

At least your site and DA page will inspire me (i'm starting my first wax casting classes in a few weeks - its a start i guess).

Love your work!
